Dear Parents,
Let me introduce myself. I am you. A well-intentioned parent who’s often overwhelmed with the awesome task of raising a child to become a happy, healthy and successful adult. With a little luck, a lot of hard work, many sleepless nights, and a carefully selected community of support, I can proudly say I accomplished that mission with my now 23 year old only child. (Read my parenting story here).
I may be at a later phase of my parenting journey than you are right now, but trust me, I know what it’s like to doubt myself, to be afraid that I’m not doing the right thing, to feel that everyone else around me is doing a better job than I am. But I also know the joys of getting to know my child as a unique individual with many wonderful qualities and talents. To opening myself up to learning about life from him. To believe in him and love him unconditionally. And to create a warm, loving household with lots of laughs and hugs.
Parent with Perspective is a labor of love. It’s the coming together of my personal passion for being a parent and my background in developmental psychology and education research. Through the PwP Blog, I will bring you practical wisdom and advice from experts: insights from scientific research and from my own experience, relevant and useful information, and advice from experts in every aspect of child development, psychology, pediatrics, health and wellness, curated specially for you, to help you navigate your parenting journey. As the “PwP curator” I will sometimes be the author of the blog post, and at other times I will invite others to contribute from their own perspective. My intention is to create a thriving PwP community of parents who will trust me to curate the “best of the best” information and resources. To help you gain wisdom to guide you, and keep it all in perspective.
This is about you and your journey. I would love to hear from you to know what’s on your mind, what you would like to know more about. There are more parenting books and articles out there than any of us can count, no less read all of them. If you spent your days (and nights) sifting through all of the information you wouldn’t be able to be present as a parent, enjoy your family and to focus on the possibilities for flourishing. So I’ll keep my finger on the pulse of the parenting world for you, tease out the good stuff and curate it for you in the PwP Blog.
Looking forward to building the PwP community with you and supporting you on your journey.
Yours in parenting,
Ellen
